In Yokohama, we have introduced a new feature to help track app installations as part of the update sets. This enhancement is designed to skip changed records during app installation, ensuring that any local customizations on your instance remain untouched. However, we’ve identified an issue where the feature is not behaving as expected. Instead of skipping the changed records, it is currently overwriting local customizations during app installs. We’ve addressed this issue in a patch release, and the fix is now available. If you're experiencing this problem, we recommend upgrading to a fixed version. Note: You only will experience the issue if your update set contains an application installation instruction. Steps to Reproduce 1. install version 1 of an app 2. customize one record 3. upgrade the app to version 2 with the commit of an update set that contains the upgrade instructions EXPECTED: the customization is protected and the upgrade skipped ACTUAL: the customization is overwritten
Our recommendation is to upgrade to a fixed version. Please subscribe to this article to get the latest updates. If the upgrade is not possible there are 3 workarounds you can apply: Workaround #1: Disable the app install tracking until this issue is fixed: set a system property "glide.update_set.track_installs_enabled" with a value "false". If you decide to apply this workaround, you should enable it again once you upgrade to a fixed version. Workaround #2: If an app install is tracked in an update set, on commit, there is a warning dialog that gives you the option to skip the app installs, which can be taken. Workaround #3: Manually remove the app install sys_update_xml from the update set. FAQs: Q: How can I recover the customization we had in the instance? 1. back out the update set selecting the choice to rollback app installs 2. manually install/upgrade all the applications 3. remove all the "App Install" instructions from the retrieved update set 4. preview and commit the retrieved update set again
