Document Version Release Date Details 2 05/18/2017 Added NVidia Quadro Cards: P6000 and M3000SE as affected options and HPE Synergy 480 Gen9 Expansion Module as an affected Platform Affected. 1 10/24/2016 Original Document Release. HPE Integrated Lights-Out 4 (iLO 4) utilizes established Computer Industry Standards to perform device discovery and report asset and health of hardware option cards on ProLiant Gen8 and Gen9-series ProLiant servers. iLO 4 Agentless Management uses numerous Industry Standards including the Distributed Management Task Force (DMTF) Platform Management Components Intercommunication (PMCI) working group standards. The HPE ProLiant iLO product team maintains working relationships with computer option vendors to ensure their supplied options cards conform to these PMCI device management standards. There are times when non-HPE branded option cards (adapters) do not conform to general accepted platform management specifications such as IPMI FRU 1.3, DMTF SMBios 2.0, PMCI Working Group (WG) standards and device driver UEFI specification 2.4. The purpose of the advisory is to explain the expected iLO 4 Agentless Management reporting behaviors of these adapters. Some known, non-PMCI compliant third-party option cards used in HPE ProLiant servers are as follows: Accelerator / Graphic Option cards NVM Express Controller The iLO 4 HTML GUI Device Inventory page presents a tabulation of embedded and installed Field Replaceable devices and option cards. The typical content reported for non-PMCI compliant third party options cards is the "Product Name" and the "Status" fields. The "Product Name" field will have content as supplied by the associated Option Card's UEFI device driver. Since the actual content will vary with the actual Option card installed, this advisory is not scoped to tabulate known values; rather, many times the Option Card's UEFI device driver may supply values as follows: "PCI Controller" "Video Controller" "Network Controller" The "Status" field will usually contain the value of "Unknown" because the iLO 4 Agentless Management logic cannot interface with the Option card's device management to ascertain any real device status.
