After updating the firmware to version 238 on any of the HPE Broadcom-based network adapters listed in the Scope section below, the network adapter may not connect when using HPE 10GBase-T SFP+ Transceiver (813874-B21) with vendor part number "SP7051-HP" and HPE BladeSystem c-Class Virtual Connect 1G SFP RJ-45 Transceiver (453154-B21) with vendor part number "SP7041-HP."This issue occurs due to an enhancement code change starting in firmware version 238; the new mechanism checks the Byte36 of transceiver EEPROM which defines the Extended compliance in SFF-8024 standard after Rev1.4. However, the SP7051-HP and SP7041-HP were launched over ten years ago and the Byte36 of these two SFPs are "01" which mean unallocated in the SFF-8024 standard before Rev1.4; therefore, it cannot be identified as the correct link speed 1/10Gb to raise the link connectivity accordingly.Important:Only transceivers with the vendor part number "SP7051-HP" and "SP7041-HP" are affected by this issue.
Any HPE platform configured with any of the following HPE Broadcom-based network adapters using an HPE 10GBase-T SFP+ Transceiver (813874-B21) and HPE BladeSystem c-Class Virtual Connect 1G SFP RJ-45 Transceiver (453154-B21):Broadcom BCM57504 Ethernet 10/25Gb 4-port SFP28 Adapter for HPE (P26264-B21)Broadcom BCM57504 Ethernet 10/25Gb 4-port SFP28 OCP3 Adapter for HPE (P26269-B21)Broadcom BCM57412 Ethernet 10Gb 2-port SFP+ Adapter for HPE (P26259-B21)Broadcom BCM57412 Ethernet 10Gb 2-port SFP+ OCP3 Adapter for HPE (P26256-B21)Broadcom BCM57414 Ethernet 10/25Gb 2-port SFP28 Adapter for HPE (P26262-B21)Broadcom BCM57414 Ethernet 10/25Gb 2-port SFP28 OCP3 Adapter for HPE (P10115-B21)Important:Only transceivers with the vendor part number "SP7051-HP"and "SP7041-HP" are affected by this issue.
If immediate network connectivity is required and the network adapter is unable to connect to the upstream switch, manually configure both the switch and the network adapter to operate at either 1 Gb/s or 10 Gb/s to restore network connectivity.Note:HPE is working to fix this issue in a future firmware version. This advisory will be updated when additional solutions become available.
