An issue has been identified where an HPE OneView update from version 11.30 to version 11.40 may fail on HPE Synergy Composer2 Management Appliances with Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS) Cryptography Mode enabled.During the update process, the standby Composer may repeatedly stop functioning and become inaccessible, preventing login. The standby Composer console may display recurring messages similar to following:Core dump to |/bin/false pipe failedFollowing the failure, the standby Composer may require reimaging to return the appliance to a healthy state.
Any HPE Synergy Composer2 Management Appliance updating from HPE OneView version 11.30 to version 11.40 with Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS) Cryptography Mode enabled.
For HPE Synergy Composer2 Management Appliance environments with Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS) Cryptography Mode enabled, HPE advises to defer updates to HPE OneView version 11.40 until a release containing the fix becomes available. An alternative method, change the appliance to Legacy Cryptography Mode before performing the update. However, this approach is highly discouraged, as it requires a maintenance window for compute modules in frames managed by HPE OneView because the process reinitializes the Interconnect Modules. This advisory will be updated when a future HPE OneView release that fixes the issue becomes available.
