After upgrading MSM controller software, the following issue may occur:adding a new VSC that uses the controller's built-in DHCP server reports the error "DHCP scope too big", and the controller's event log will report "No DHCP leases available on subnet".
Any of the following MSM Controllers:HP MSM710 Access ControllerHP MSM720 Access Controller (WW)HP MSM760 Access ControllerHP MSM765 zl Premium Mobility ControllerHP MSM775 zl Premium Controller Module
The reason this occurs is that the MSM controllers have a very limited number of supported DHCP leases. Some versions of software incorrectly allowed configuration of leases that were beyond what is supported. As this was fixed upon upgrading software, the error messages now appear. This issue has been seen in two branches of software: after upgrading to 5.7.3.x or 6.6.0.x.NOTE: The TOTAL number of supported DHCP leases (whether there is one scope or multiple scopes) are as follows:MSM710: 1025MSM720: 1025MSM730: 1025MSM760: 3000MSM765: 3000MSM775: 3000After upgrading MSM controller software, first delete the DHCP scope in all affected VSCs.Next, at the global level, ensure that that the DHCP scope is small, for example no more that 100 leases. Finally reconfigure the VSCs with their DHCP leases.REMEMBER: the total number of possible leases, including at the global level and all VSCs must not exceed the supported number (listed above).RECEIVE PROACTIVE UPDATES: Receive support alerts (such as Customer Advisories), as well as updates on drivers, software, firmware, and customer replaceable components, proactively via e-mail through HPE Subscriber's Choice.
