After hot-adding a hard drive or external USB drive on an HP ProLiant server running HP Insight Management Agents for Windows Version 10.0.0.0 (or earlier), erroneousRising Threshold Passed (10005)critical events and incorrect volume drive or partition information may appear on the HP System Management Homepage (SMH).There are two parts to this issue:On the SMH running on the managed server, theFile System Space Useddata is not correct for all mounted volumes.ANDThe HP Insight Management Agents report the incorrect logical drive having theRising Threshold Passedissue. In the following example, a managed server that is reporting theFile System Space Usedthresholds event has two volumes (logical drives) configured as follows:Disk 0 - C:\ and Z:\.TheFile System Space Usedthresholds for volumes C: and Z: are set to 80% (min), 90% (max) in the SMH.The actualFile System Space Usedpercentage for Volume C: is 33% and Volume Z: is 0%.Because the actual percentageFile System Space Usedfor both volumes is below the set threshold values, there is noRising Threshold Passedalert from the Insight Foundation Agents, as shown in Figure 1 below:Figure 1: Normal SMH Screen Showing NoRising Threshold PassedAlert for Mounted VolumesContinuing with this example, a USB drive is hot-added, resulting in three volumes (logical drives) set up as follows:Disk 0 - C:\ and Z:\Disk 1 - D:\ (from the USB drive)Volume D: (from the external USB drive) has an actual percentageFile System Space Usedof 86%, with noFile System Space Usedthresholds set, as shown in Figure 2 below:Figure 2:File System Space UsedData After Hot-Plugging a USB DriveThe SMH now shows that Volume Z: has a threshold warning, even though its percentageFile System Space Usedis still 0%. Additionally, the originalFile System Space Usedthresholds settings have been moved to Volume D:.Because thePercentage File System Space Usedvalue for Volume D: is now approaching the preset threshold value, the Insight Management Agents log aRising Threshold Passedalert event to the Windows System Event log, revealing that Volume Z: is now having this issue as indicated in the SMH.This occurs because the Insight Management Agents web app incorrectly reads the disk index when the volume is turned online/offline.
Any HP ProLiant server running a Windows Server operating system and HP Insight Management Agents for Windows Version 10.0.0.0 (or earlier).
In order to avoid the incorrectRising Threshold Passedevents, temporarily disable the feature by removing the subagentThreshold Supportfrom Windows Control Panel > HP Management Agents applet before hot-adding a hard drive or external USB drive on the monitored server.Note:Disabling theThreshold Supportfeature will prevent users from saving new threshold values. This advisory will be updated when more information becomes available.RECEIVE PROACTIVE UPDATES: Receive support alerts (such as Customer Advisories), as well as updates on drivers, software, firmware, and customer replaceable components, proactively via e-mail through HP Subscriber's Choice.
