The HP Java Integrated Remote Console (IRC) will not be launched on ProLiant servers with any version of HP Integrated Lights-Out 3 (iLO 3) or HP Integrated Lights-Out 4 (iLO 4) that runs on SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10 (SLES10).When the Java Remote Console is launched on SLES10, the system fails to locate some of the functions or variable names (symbols). When an application is loaded by the operating system, it must locate and load the dynamic libraries it needs for execution. In Linux, the dynamic libraries are loaded by ld-linux.so. At the time of building the Java native code, glibc is responsible for creating ld-linux.so. Glibc only provides backward compatibility, not forward compatibility. When new functions are added, glibc adds a new symbol version and the operating system will attempt to run against glibc 2.5, but not glibc 2.4.
Any HP ProLiant server with iLO 3 or iLO 4 Java Integrated Remote Console (IRC) and SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10 (SLES10)
As a workaround to correct this issue, upgrade to SLES11 (or later) or any later SUSE Linux operating systems running glibc 2.5 (or later) and then login as root-user or super-user on a Linux client. This issue will also be corrected in a future release of iLO 3 and iLO 4 firmware. This advisory will be updated when additional information is available.RECEIVE PROACTIVE UPDATES: Receive support alerts (such as Customer Advisories), as well as updates on drivers, software, firmware, and customer replaceable components, proactively via e-mail through HP Subscriber's Choice.
