After an unsuccessful firmware flash on HP Integrated Lights-Out 3 (iLO 3) with Firmware Version 1.50 or HP Integrated Lights-Out 4 (iLO 4) with Firmware Version 1.10, The HP Lights-Out Online Configuration Utility (HPONCFG) cannot be launched until iLO is reset. The following message will be displayed:This occurs because HPONCFG version 4.0.1.0 queries the iLO 3 and iLO 4 firmware for flash status when the utility is launched. If the iLO firmware returns a flash percentage between 1% and 100%, HPONCFG assumes that a firmware flash is in progress and will not complete launching. iLO 3 firmware version 1.50 and iLO 4 Firmware Version 1.10 set the flash percentage to 100% after an unsuccessful firmware flash. As a result, HPONCFG displays the message above.This issue occurs in the following scenario:Install HPONCFG.Copy hponcfg.exe and the Update_Firmware.xml script to the same folder.Flash an invalid firmware image using the Update_Firmware.xml script and hponcfg.exe. The firmware flash fails, since the firmware image is an invalid image.Attempt to launch hponcfg by typing hponcfg.exe on the command prompt. HPONCFG fails to print the usage help text and instead displays the message, "Firmware Flash is in Progress. Please wait for a while."
Any ProLiant Gen8 server running the HP Lights-Out Online Configuration Utility Version 4.0.1.0 and iLO 3 Firmware Version 1.50 or iLO 4 Firmware Version 1.10.
This issue has been corrected in HP Integrated Lights-Out 3 Firmware Version 1.61 (or later) or HP Integrated Lights-Out 4 Firmware Version 1.30 (or later), available as follows:Perform the following steps to obtain the latest iLO 3 firmware version:Click on the following link:https://support.hpe.com/hpesc/public/homeSelect the appropriate operating system.Click on "Firmware - Lights-Out Management."Locate, download, and install iLO 3 Firmware Version 1.61 (or later).Perform the following steps to obtain the latest iLO 4 firmware version:Click on the following link:https://support.hpe.com/hpesc/public/homeSelect the appropriate operating system.Click on "Firmware - Lights-Out Management."Locate, download, and install iLO 4 Firmware Version 1.30 (or later).As a workaround, perform the following:Log into the iLO GUI using valid credentials.Navigate to the Administration->iLO Firmware->Firmware Update page in the iLO GUI.Click the "Clear Error" button to clear the error message. Clearing the error message on the Firmware Update page of iLO GUI sets flash percentage to Zero:RECEIVE PROACTIVE UPDATES: Receive support alerts (such as Customer Advisories), as well as updates on drivers, software, firmware, and customer replaceable components, proactively via e-mail through HP Subscriber's Choice.
