On an HP ProLiant server running the HP Power Protector Software (HPPP) 1.01 under Linux with the HP UPS Network Module (HP Part Number AF465A), a memory leak may occur on the system tray process on the HP Power Protector client. The percentage of memory usage on "mc2 -systray" increases from 0.3% to 4.1% within five days. This has been observed on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.7; however, this may occur on any distribution of Linux. The memory usage on "mc2 -systray" will start to increase and will not decrease. When this occurs, system performance may be slow and all applications may be affected by the performance impact, depending on how much memory "mc2 -systray" is using.
