Upgrading HP X9000 software to versions 5.5.4, 5.5.4.1, 5.6.1, and 5.6.1.1 will cause the/etc/resolv.conffile on the file serving nodes to be overwritten upon reboot causing the DNS settings to be lost. This will cause name resolution to fail therefore breaking Active Directory authentication with the CIFS stack. This will also prevent CIFS users from accessing the file systems.
HP X9000 versions 5.5.4, 5.5.4.1, 5.6.1,and 5.6.1.1 are affected by this advisory.
HP Engineering is currently working on a permanent fix to resolve this issue.WorkaroundManually edit the/etc/resolv.conffile on each file serving node and re-add the proper DNS settings. Restart the CIFS services on all file serving nodes using the command/usr/local/ibrix/bin/ibrix_server -s -t cifs -c restarton the Active Fusion Manager. After completing these steps, verify that the issue has been resolved by pinging the Active Directory domain (for example, ping ib.lab) to verify that name resolution is working properly. Verify that CIFS clients can now access the file systems.
