Document VersionRelease DateDetails25/9/2006Updated Description and Resolution for clarity12/9/2006Original Document ReleaseAn HP Uninterruptible Power System (UPS) model T1000 XR, T1500 XR, or T2200 XR built prior to January 2005 may enter a commissioning test and temporarily indicate that the battery is bad. This occurs as part of a temporary, one-time battery test. When the UPS is powered on for the first time, it is programmed to estimate the battery runtime by disconnecting from utility power while maintaining the load from the batteries for a predetermined time in order to calculate a more accurate runtime. An algorithm is used to determine the number of batteries connected and to calculate the battery health status by measuring the rate of decay.Commissioning was used on UPS models manufactured before January 2005. Any units built after this time will have the commissioning bit disabled in manufacturing. The commissioning of the UPS only occurs once during the life of the unit and only after specific criteria for commissioning is met. Battery commissioning will only occur under all of the following specific conditions:The load is greater than 30 percent. The UPS is in rest mode.Once the commissioning process has completed, it will not occur again.
Any of the following HP Uninterruptible Power System (UPS) models manufactured before January 2005:HP UPS T1000 XR Uninterruptible Power SystemOption Part Number 204155-001Firmware version 2.01Serial Number Y001JZR141 (or earlier)HP UPS T1500 XR Uninterruptible Power SystemOption Part Number 204155-002Firmware version 2.01Serial Number Y0GDJZR23W (or earlier)HP T2200 XR Uninterruptible Power SystemOption Part Number 204451-B31Firmware version 2.00Serial Number 001JZR348 (or earlier)
Allow the UPS to complete the commissioning test. The UPS should not drop the load and will return online when the test is completed. Regardless of load, the test should not take longer than 30 minutes to complete. If the commissioning test is interrupted (such as rebooting the UPS), the commissioning test will start again the next time the UPS meets the specific conditions mentioned above.Commissioning will only occur once in the UPS life cycle. It will not occur again even if the batteries are replaced.RECEIVE PROACTIVE UPDATES: Receive support alerts (such as Customer Advisories), as well as updates on drivers, software, firmware, and customer replaceable components, proactively via e-mail through HP Subscriber's Choice.
