When the HPE Integrated Lights-Out (iLO) SNMP interface is exercised with an SNMP monitoring software such as the Zabbix monitoring tool, after approximately 2 hours, the monitoring tool will report that snmpwalk timed out and on the HPE Integrated Lights-Out "Information/Overview" page, the HPE Agentless Management Software (AMS) will display as "Not available."Any iLO 5 or iLO 6 in this failed state will report the snmpwalk commands as timed out.The iLOs' SNMP master agent cannot function due to insufficient iLO memory which then causes the snmpwalk commands to timeout. This causes the AMS to fail to re-establish an iLO connection.
Any HPE system with iLO 5 or 6 firmware versions configured to use snmp v1, v3, or a combination.
On both iLO 5 or iLO 6 perform a reset of the iLO.Due to the iLO 5 limited resources, it is not possible to adjust resources to prevent the iLO SNMP master agent from running out of memory.Update to iLO 6 firmware v1.72 (or later). To download the iLO 6 firmware v1.72 (or later), perform the following steps:Click the following link:Hewlett Packard Enterprise Support CenterThe page should refresh to display the "DRIVERS AND SOFTWARE" tab and the components that support the iLO 7.Locate and select theHPE Integrated Lights-Out 7 v1.72 firmware(or later).Note: To ensure that you have selected the latest version of the firmware/driver, click the Revision History tab to check if a new version of the firmware/driver is available. For more important information, review the Release Notes tab.Click theDownloadbutton.Document VersionRelease DateDetails2December 2, 2025Added fix for iLO 6, firmware v1.72.1June 10, 2025Original Document Release.
