Due to a latent issue that is now resolved in the 4.3.11 release, a limited number of HPE StoreOnce Gen4 and Gen4 Plus systems during upgrade to version 4.3.11 may experience a potential delay in starting Virtual Tape Libraries (VTL), NAS shares and Catalyst stores after reboot.During start-up, each store will transition from an OFFLINE state to a STARTING state and then to an ONLINE state, one store at a time, making the transition. While the store is in the STARTING state, it will be loading metadata required for the deduplication store to operate. In some circumstances, the loading of the metadata can take a long time if the metadata is distributed across a large number of files.NOTE: If the store transitions to a FAILED TO START state, contact HPE Support for assistance.HPE StoreOnce Gen4 and Gen4 Plus systems will no longer timeout stores that do not start within one (1) hour. As deduplication stores are started sequentially, one store taking a long time to start may delay other stores from starting, so it may take longer to sequentially start all stores successfully.IMPORTANT: If this delayed store start is encountered, do NOT reboot the HPE StoreOnce system, as this will not improve the time to start stores.HPE StoreOnce Gen4 and Gen4 Plus systems that have previously experienced deduplication stores failing to start after reboot are more likely to observe this delay in store start-ups following an upgrade to software version 4.3.11.
The following products are affected by this issue:HPE StoreOnce 3620 24TB SystemHPE StoreOnce 3640 48TB SystemHPE StoreOnce 3660 80TB Base SystemHPE StoreOnce 5200 Base SystemHPE StoreOnce 5250 Base SystemHPE StoreOnce 5260 Base SystemHPE StoreOnce 5650 Base SystemHPE StoreOnce 5660 Base System
Start-up times will be reduced following the first reboot after the upgrade to 4.3.11.NOTE: If the stores appear to be stuck, with no store transitioning to an online state within 2-4 hours, collect a comprehensive support ticket, and contact HPE Support for assistance.
