Document VersionRelease DateDetails2March 15, 2024Updated the Resolution to include the firmware fixes of the drive models.1August 17, 2023Original Document Release. The HPE NVMe High Performance Read Intensive EDSFF E3.S Solid State Drive models will not illuminate a green LED when the power is applied. The device's LED will turn green after the PCIe bus is activated and the connection is completed during the Power-On Self-Test (POST).According to the industry standard, Enterprise and Datacenter Standard Form Factor (EDSFF) specification SFF-TA-1009, if the green LED is OFF, it typically implies there is no power applied. Based on this standard, the green LED should be illuminated a solid green after power is applied. The LED being off initially at installation and during POST does not indicate a problem and will not impact the NVMe device's performance. After POST completion and during the Operating System (OS) run-time, this light will correctly indicate its power status according to the specification.
The HPE NVMe High Performance Read Intensive EDSFF E3.S Solid State Drive models and Part Numbers (P/N) are as follows:P57807-B21- HPE 15.36TB NVMe Gen5 High Performance Read Intensive E3S EC1 EDSFF PM1743 SSDP57799-B21- HPE 3.84TB NVMe Gen5 High Performance Read Intensive E3S EC1 EDSFF PM1743 SSDP57803-B21- HPE 7.68TB NVMe Gen5 High Performance Read Intensive E3S EC1 EDSFF PM1743 SSD
HPE recommends waiting for the system after POST to determine whether a power issue exists with an HPE NVMe High Performance Read Intensive EDSFF E3.S SSD.The firmware for the HPE NVMe High Performance Read Intensive EDSFF E3.S Solid State Drive models is available.
