Document VersionRelease DateDetails2November 18, 2021The Resolution section has been updated with the firmware version containing the solution.1February 23, 2021Original document release. For any HPE Synergy 40Gb F8 Switch Modules, the uplink ports configured in Multi-Chassis Link Aggregation (MLAG) may change to a down state when the switch firmware is updated to a version prior to 1.8.0.1001.This issue occurs due to a Spanning Tree Protocol (STP) packet transmission and convergence issue, encountered when the switch is configured as Root Bridge and the uplink ports are configured in port channel. As a result, the affected port channels change to a blocking state.
In the scenario described above, any HPE Synergy 40Gb F8 Switch Module.
This issue has been resolved in Synergy Switch Module firmware version1.8.0.1001(or later). As a workaround, configure the switch as a designated bridge:1. Open an SSH session to the switch IP address.2. Switch# configure terminal3. Switch(config)# spanning-tree priority <Priority>4. Switch(config)# exitImportant:Regarding bridge priority, consider the following:The bridge priority must be in increments of 4096 and can be up to 61440.The only allowed values are: 0, 4096, 8192, 12288, 16384, 20480, 24576, 28672, 32768, 36864, 40960, 45056, 49152, 53248, 57344, and 61440.The default priority value is 32768.Lower priority values will increase the likelihood of a switch to become the Root Bridge. For example: If the current bridge priority is 32768, set the value to 36864 (or higher) to configure the switch as a designated bridge.Switch(config)# spanning-tree priority 36864RECEIVE PROACTIVE UPDATES: Receive support alerts (such as Customer Advisories), as well as updates on drivers, software, firmware, and customer replaceable components, proactively in your e-mail through HPE Subscriber's Choice.
