Any of the HPE Mellanox based network adapters listed in the Scope section below will not be listed by default in the BIOS/Platform Configuration (RBSU) menu under "System Utilities-> System Configuration".When this occurs, some configuration changes cannot be performed in the BIOS/Platform Configuration (RBSU). This is an expected condition for these network adapters.Configuration changes necessary for these network adapters are performed after the Operating System installation using the software tools and commands provided with the Mellanox Firmware Tools (MFT) kit.

Several configuration changes (for example: port personality, number of virtual functions (VFs) and other changes) can be performed from the Operating System using the mlxconfig command included with Mellanox Firmware Tool kit (MFT) and Mellanox OFED driver.To download the Mellanox Firmware Tools kit (MFT), refer to the following URL:Mellanox Firmware Tools (MFT)Note: For additional information regarding installation and commands, refer to the documentation links available in the download section for each Operating System/distribution at the link above.Examples of commands to perform some configuration changes using Mellanox Firmware Tools for Linux Operating Systems Version 4.15.1-9Command to set both ports of a dual port adapter to InfiniBand mode:#mlxconfig-d <lspci mellanox bus id> set LINK_TYPE_P1=1 LINK_TYPE_P2=1Command to change the number of Virtual Functions of the network adapter:#mlxconfig-d <lspci mellanox bus id> set NUM_OF_VFS=32Command to display the network adapter in the BIOS:#mlxconfig -d 86:00.0 set UEFI_HII_EN=TrueNote:This command will display and list the network adapter in the BIOS/Platform Configuration (RBSU) menu under "System Utilities-> System Configuration". Once the server is rebooted after running this command, the network adapter configuration changes can be subsequently performed from the BIOS/Platform Configuration (RBSU) menu itself.Important information:After the configuration change is performed, reboot the server or reset the device using the following command for the configuration changes to take effect:Command to reset the device:#mlxfwreset-d <lspci mellanox bus id>resetRECEIVE PROACTIVE UPDATES: Receive support alerts (such as Customer Advisories), as well as updates on drivers, software, firmware, and customer replaceable components, proactively via e-mail through HPE Subscriber's Choice.
