In certain cases, HPE OneView may send the "Authentication Failure" SNMP Alerts to the SNMPv1 Alert destination if it is configured directly on the HPE Integrated Lights-Out (iLO). The alerts will be sent in regular intervals 20 minutes apart. This will happen only if there is a SNMPv1 Alert Destination directly configured by the user on the iLO Server that is managed by OneView.This behavior can be seen in the example below:However, the Authentication Failure traps willnotappear in HPE OneView under Activity (category: Alerts).
Any HPE OneView version that manages the server that has SNMPv1 Alert Destination for HPE Integrated Lights-Out (iLO).
The Authentication Failure SNMP alerts can be safely ignored.This issue is also fixed by upgrading toHPE OneView 11.0or later.As a workaround, if SNMPv1 Alert Destination is configure directly on the iLO server and managed by HPE OneView, perform the following in OneView:Enable SNMPv3 requests on the iLO server from Management->SNMP Settings->SNMP Alerts->Enable SNMPv3 Request->Apply:Document VersionRelease DateDetails2March 27, 2026Updated the Resolution with the permanent fix.1September 08, 2025Original Document Release.
