An HPE 40Gb F8 Switch Module for HPE Synergy running firmware version 1.2.2.1001 (or earlier) in High-Availability (HA) configuration may experience a Data Traffic Outage after an Interconnect replacement.During an Interconnect Module replacement installation, upon boot, the downlinks will be enabled by default although no configuration has been applied to the module via the Administrator. This may cause NIC Teaming software to failover to the newly linked NIC and or load balance traffic across this NIC. If that occurs, a data traffic outage may persist until the Administrator applies the configuration to the newly inserted Interconnect Module.NOTE: Removing an ICM and reinserting that same ICM back in the same bay will not cause the issue. The issue only occurs when the module does not have a configuration (i.e, a spare replacement or a module moved from another ICM).
Any HPE 40Gb F8 Switch Modules for HPE Synergy in High-Availability (HA) configuration and running firmware version 1.2.2.1001 (or earlier).
A future firmware version will place all the downlink ports in "admin down" until the configuration is applied by the administrator to stack the Interconnect modules. As a workaround within the Operating System (OS), disable the NIC that connects to the Interconnect Module (ICM) that needs to be replaced prior to replacing the ICM. After replacement and configuration is applied, re-enable the NIC within the OS.NOTE:Products sold prior to the November 1, 2015 separation of Hewlett-Packard Company into Hewlett Packard Enterprise Company and HP Inc. may have older product names and model numbers that differ from current models.RECEIVE PROACTIVE UPDATES: Receive support alerts (such as Customer Advisories), as well as updates on drivers, software, firmware, and customer replaceable components, proactively via e-mail through HPE Subscriber's Choice.
