On an HPE ProLiant server or HPE Synergy Compute Module running Linux, the firmware update on HPE Broadcom Netxtreme-E devices and other network adapters listed in the Scope section below may not complete if the recommended driver is not installed and loaded prior to the firmware update. As a workaround, run the SPP two times. Run the SPP the first time to ensure the correct drivers are installed (the firmware will display an error). Run the SPP a second time to install the correct firmware (the first time the SPP was run, the drivers required for the firmware were made available). Ensure the recommended driver is installed prior to updating the firmware. The recommended driver version is documented as part of the release notes of the firmware smart components listed in the Description section above. In addition, HPE highly recommends using the appropriate driver/firmware combination that are included in the same SPP release to avoid compatibility and functionality issues.
