Any HPE 10500 Switch Series running the affected software versions listed in the Scope section below, may encounter memory leak issues on the Switch Fabric Modules (SFM) if MAC address synchronization is enabled by using the "mac-address mac-roaming enable" command. The memory usage on the SFM continues to increase as the number of learned MAC address increases, and the memory is not released after the MAC address synchronization packets are processed. Eventually the memory on SFM is exhausted and the SFM reboots. The command "display memory" can be used to display the memory usage on each module.NOTE: This issue does not occur on Line Processing Units (LPU) or Main Processing Units (MPU).
Any HPE 10500 Switch Series running the following Software Versions:R Release - R1201 to R1208P04 (inclusive)F Release - F1205 to F1209L22 (inclusive)NOTE: Only 10500 Comware V5 is affected, not Comware V7.
To fix this issue, perform any of the following actions:Upgrade to Software version R1210P01 (or later).OrFor switches running the software version R1208P13, install the hot patch R1208P13H01. Please note that after installing the R1208P13H01 hot patch, the abnormal memory increase will cease, but the memory leak caused by this issue will not be released until the SFM is rebooted. As a workaround, disable the MAC address synchronization to stop the memory leak, however the memory leak will not be freed until the SFM is rebooted.RECEIVE PROACTIVE UPDATES: Receive support alerts (such as Customer Advisories), as well as updates on drivers, software, firmware, and customer replaceable components, proactively via e-mail through HPE Subscriber's Choice.
