The following Dell AMD laptops are experiencing a display issue after a warm reboot or resuming from hibernate. The backlight stays on but all video is gone after the Dell Logo screen is displayed. Affected Platforms: Dell 16 DC16255 Dell 16 DC16256
The clock initialization goes wrong during boot which leads to the abnormal video behavior. This issue is limited to Human Presence Detection (HPD) platforms using AMD AI software. It does not affect the Dell Pro Essential platforms with KRK audio compatibility.
Recovery Steps: Any of the following methods bring back the video on-screen: Method One: Close the laptops lid and then reopen it. Method Two: Press the power button and then either tap any key on the keyboard or press the power button again. Method Three: Tap any key on the keyboard after waiting for three minutes. Note: Before starting the update, perform the following: Back up all personal data. For more information, refer to: Back Up and Recovery Connect the AC adapter. Solution Steps: Updating the AMD Radeon 740M, 780M, 820M, 840M, and 860M Graphics Driver to version 32.0.22032.14003, A04 or later on the laptop resolves the issue. To download and install the AMD-Radeon-740M-780M-820M-840M-860M-Graphics-Driver_W3T99_WIN64_32.0.22032.14003_A04.exe file, refer to the: Driver Update Guide
