One or more of the following symptoms may be observed after updating the BIOS: The fan is not working before and after starting the operating system with desktop mode. The computer is overheating. The computer stops responding or stuck due to fan or overheating issues. The processor speed limit locks at 0.56 GHz, 0.57 GHz, or 0.58 GHz in Windows Task Manager. How to Check if the Computer is Affected by This Issue: Place the computer on the desktop and boot into shell mode by pressing the F12 key. Select DIAGNOSTICS . Press ESC key to stop the DIAGNOSTICS from running. Select ADVANCED TEST on the bottom left corner. Select SYSTEM INFO , HEALTH , then show the Fan and Thermal section. The computer is affected if the Processor Fan shows 0 RPM and the CPU temperature goes above 90℃. Affected Platforms and BIOS Version: Dell 15 DC15250: Version 1.5.1, 1.6.0, or 1.7.0 Dell Pro 15 Essential PV15250: Version 1.0.0, 1.0.1, 1.1.1, 1.2.0, 1.3.0, 1.4.0 or 1.5.0 Inspiron 15 3530: Version 1.27.0 or 1.29.0 Vostro 14 3430: Version 1.27.0 or 1.29.0 Vostro 15 3530: Version 1.27.0 or 1.29.0
The DDR4 thermal table was incorrectly applied to DDR5 value due to a coding error. This corresponds to an incorrect thermal table only in desktop mode. The thermal table is correct in lid mode and laptop mode. The computer does not load the correct peak power table value, and this causes the CPU performance to drop.
Note: Before starting the update, perform the following: Back up all personal data. For more information, refer to Back Up and Recovery . Connect the AC adapter. Updating the following version of BIOS resolves the issue. To download and install the BIOS, refer to the BIOS Update Guide .
