The default speaker may change from one monitor with a speaker to another when connecting three monitors to an XPS 14 DA14260 or XPS 16 DA16260. This also includes when three monitors are connected to the computer through a dock. The issue occurs when the computer reconnects with the monitor after any of the following events: Resuming from sleep Hibernate Shutdown Opening the computer lid The following image shows an example of sound output devices in Windows with three monitors connected. Note: The names of the output devices may differ in your environment. The following image shows that the sound output device configuration has changed. This happens after resuming from sleep, resuming from hibernate, shutdown, or opening the computer lid. Note: The names of the output devices may differ in your environment. The monitor signals are not the same every time that the computer reconnects with them. Resuming from sleep, hibernate, rebooting, and opening the lid cause the monitors to reconnect. The reconnection to the monitor causes the default audio output to change.
Manually select a monitor for the default audio output. Click the speaker icon on the taskbar. Click the icon to the right of the volume to Select a sound output . Manually select a default audio Output device .
