The tower displays a warning that the service tag is not programmed. The tower works as expected after entering the service tag. WARNING: The Service Tag has not been programmed. This system will not function properly without a Service Tag. The setup utility will launch the Service Tag installer. However, at some point during booting up the tower, the fan suddenly starts spinning rapidly and manufacturing mode appears on-screen. **** MANUFACTURING MODE ACTIVE **** Press Alt-F to return the system to normal running mode. WARNING: The Service Tag has not been programmed. This system will not function properly without a service tag. The setup utility will launch the Service Tag installer. Press F1 key to retry boot. Press F2 key for setup utility. Press F5 key to run onboard diagnostics. Affected Platforms: Dell Precision 5860 Tower
A corrupted data region is responsible for manufacturing mode and restoring the Service Tag.
Note: Before starting the update, perform the following: Back up all personal data.
