The speaker icon in the computer tray will show X , and there will be no sound after updating the BIOS to 1.16.1 with Realtek audio driver 10.0.177.1 or older installed. Affected Platforms: XPS 13 9350
To support both the new and current audio AMP ICs, the BIOS and driver detection mechanisms have been updated. In the updated BIOS, the disco table has been consolidated, and the audio driver is tasked with identifying the specific AMP IC currently in use. If the BIOS is updated but the audio driver lacks support for detection, audio will not function.
Note: Before starting the update, perform the following: Back up all personal data. For more information, refer to Back Up and Recovery . Connect the AC adapter. Updating the Realtek Audio Driver to version 10.0.208.1(SWB#3843W) or later on the computer resolves the issue. To download and install the driver, refer to the Driver Update Guide .
