A Dell Pro Micro QCM1255 may experience screen flickering while connected to Wi-Fi and idle. When the screen flickers, it may appear that the image is shimmering or shifting. The computer may bluescreen, lock up, or experience screen blanking during a Wi-Fi speed test or while using wireless to upload. When the screen is blanking, it goes black for a few seconds. The bluescreen error message and STOP code can differ based on what the computer was doing at the time of the bluescreen. This only occurs when connected to 2.4 GHz networks. Interference between the aux antenna and motherboard causes this issue. This only occurs when connected to a 2.4 GHz wireless network.
Long-term solution Updating to BIOS version 1.7.1 or later on the computer resolves the issue. To download and install the BIOS, refer to the BIOS Update Guide . Workaround Dell Technologies recommends using the computer’s wireless functionality to connect to a 5 GHz or 6 GHz access point. Click the Start menu and search for Device Manager , then select Device Manager to open it. Click the chevron (arrow) to the left of Network adapters to expand the category. Locate the entry for an MT7920 Wireless LAN Card or MT7925 Wireless LAN Card , right-click it, and then select Properties . Select the Advanced tab. Under Property , choose Band Selection . Change the Value from All Band to either 5G Only or 6G Only . Note: Dell Technologies recommends setting 5G Only unless if there is a known reason to select 6G Only . Click OK . Close Device Manager .
