Scenario: CMDB Data Manager tasks—specifically archive tasks and retire tasks—are not being processed correctly. They fail with the message: "Error: Failed to create archive chunk." and the retire policy CIs already associated to these tasks are not being processed. After applying the workaround from KB2312562, the issue persisted. The business rule responsible for clearing entries in the cmdb_data_management_task_to_ci table is triggered during manual updates. However, in scenarios where the Archive subflow encounters an error, this business rule is not triggered, leading to a backlog of CIs in the table. Business Rule (BR) - Clean up TaskToCI records
Create an Archive Data Management Policy with Needs Review set to true. Execute the policy by running the scheduled job: CMDB Data Manager Archive/Delete Policy Processor Verify that a Data Management Task is created in the cmdb_data_management_task table. Identify all CIs associated with the task. Update the associated CIs so that they are no longer eligible for archiving by setting: Lifecycle Status & Lifecycle Stage Status fields. Approve the Archive task and allow processing to continue. Observe that the task fails because there are no valid retired CIs remaining to archive. Review the task record and note the following: Task State = Closed Incomplete Error Message = Failed to create archive chunks Query the cmdb_data_management_task_to_ci table for the failed task.
Although the Archive task is closed as Closed Incomplete, the associated records in cmdb_data_management_task_to_ci are not removed. As a result, stale task-to-CI associations remain in the system and may prevent subsequent Data Management Policies from correctly processing those CIs.
When an Archive Data Management Task fails and is closed as Closed Incomplete, all corresponding records in cmdb_data_management_task_to_ci should be cleaned up during task closure. This ensures that: No stale CI associations remain after task failure. Future Data Management Policies can evaluate and process the affected CIs correctly. The system maintains data consistency across Archive, Delete, and other Data Management Policy types.
Proposed
Please import the update set: PRB2020163 - CMDB Data Manager Archive Task Stale CI Cleanup updateset This update set contains a schedule job for CMDB Data Manager Archive Task Stale CI Cleanup. The scheduled job CMDB Data Manager Archive Task Stale CI Cleanup automatically removes stale CI association records from the cmdb_data_management_task_to_ci table that may be left behind by previously closed Archive Data Management Tasks. Verify that the scheduled job is active and running successfully. This cleanup prevents stale task-to-CI associations from impacting subsequent Archive, Delete, and other Data Management Policy executions.
