Document VersionRelease DateDetails204/07/2017Updated Resolution section with permanent fix, updated version of the iLO 3 firmware.106/02/2016Original Document Release.On an HPE ProLiant server with HPE Integrated Lights-Out 3 (iLO 3) or HPE Integrated Lights-Out 4 (iLO 4), passwords that contain one or more Backslash characters (\) are not set correctly when the iLO Command Line Interface (CLI) is used. However, passwords containing backslash characters can be set using other interfaces; for example, the iLO Web GUI or the Remote Insight Board Command Language (RIBCL).
Any HPE ProLiant G7-series server with iLO 3 firmware versions 1.87 (or earlier) or any HPE ProLiant Gen8-series or Gen9-series server with an iLO 4 firmware version earlier than 2.10.
iLO 4 firmware version 2.10 and iLO 3 firmware version 1.88 will correctly set passwords with the backslash character when using the CLI.Perform the following steps to obtain the latest version of the iLO firmware:Click the following link:http://h20566.www2.hpe.com/portal/site/hpscEnter a product name (e.g., "iLO 4") in the text field underEnter aProduct Name or Number.ClickGo.Select the appropriate product model from the Results list (if prompted).Click the "drivers, software & firmware" hyperlink under theDownloadOptionstab.Select the system's specific operating system from the Operating Systems dropdown menu.Click the categoryFirmware - Lights-Out Management.Select theHPE Integrated Lights-Out firmwareVersion 2.10 (or later) or Version 1.88 (or later).ClickDownload.RECEIVE PROACTIVE UPDATES: Receive support alerts (such as Customer Advisories), as well as updates on drivers, software, firmware, and customer replaceable components, proactively via e-mail through HPE Subscriber's Choice.
