Description

Summary

During hot insert/removal operations of HPE Solid State Drives (SSDs) with VMware ESXi 8.0U3, the Purple Screen of Death (PSOD) may occur. This issue is linked to the firmware of the SSD and will cause downtime when the server stops because of the PSOD.

Resolution

This issue will be resolved by updating the firmware to HPK2 or HPK3 for HPE NVMe U.3 SSDs:Update the firmware toHPK2(23 July 2025) by using theUniversal Firmware Package for Drives - MO001600KYFFF, MO003200KYFET, MO006400KYFEU, VO001920KYFFE, VO003840KYFEP, VO007680KYFEQ and VO015360KYFERANDUpdate the firmware toHPK3(14 May 2025) by using theUniversal Firmware Package for Drives - MV003200KYFFK, MV006400KYFFA, MV012800KYFFB, VV003840KYFFH, VV007680KYFFL and VV015360KYFEV.
