In order to support the Universal Backplane Management 6 (UBM6) backplane and have the platform recognized, HPE recommends updating the system and controller minimum firmware version as detailed in the Resolution section below.The server may experience the following scenarios if the minimum firmware versions are not met:UBM6 backplane directly attached to the System Board:Intel platform RBSU: Can recognize HDD, but the backplane displays unknown device when the UBM6 backplane is being attached. Incorrect thermal table on fan control due to failure to recognize UBM6.AMD platform RBSU: for ProLiant DL365/DL385 Gen10 Plus servers, may not be able to recognize HDD, or not able to recognize the correct HDD type.iLO: Unable to recognize HDD. IML may record incorrect behavior when a hot-plug of the HDD is performed.Backplane attached with Microchip SR controller:HDD, backplane and Controller can be recognized in RBSU with incorrect thermal table on fan control.Backplane with Broadcom MR controller attached to the System Board:UBM6 firmware update is only supported.

Update the system and controller firmware version, through SPP 2024.09.00.00 or later, according to the following recipes:NOTE: The UBM6 firmware may get corrupted if SPP prior to SPP 2024.09.00.00 is used. When UBM6 firmware is corrupted, disk may function properly, but RBSU and ILO pages may not show UBM6 Backplane FW, Box number and Bay number correctly.
