When using SUM 12.3.0 (or earlier) with the SUM RPM Linux commands, the new FWPKG-based packages will not be considered for firmware updates. Instead, SUM will use the RPM-based packages. This issue occurs if the Firmware Pack for ProLiant is NOT the last repository listed when running "yum repo list" or "zypper repos".As shown below, SUM is only selecting "Online ROM Flash For Linux" components. In this scenario, SUM is not applying a firmware update for the HPE SmartRAID SR controllers. When the repository is the last one, now the proper components are selected and displayed:In this scenario, the firmware update for the Smart Array SR controllers is selected.Note:This issue is not limited to only Smart Array SR controllers. This will cause some components to not be updated as there are no new RPM-based packages for some platforms and/or components.
In the scenario described above, any HPE platform using SUM 12.3.0 (or earlier) and SUM RPM Linux commands.
To avoid this issue, update SUM to version12.4.0(or later). As a workaround, ensure the HPE Firmware Package repository is the last repository noted by YUM or Zypper.
