Due to recent changes implemented by Broadcom, users must now generate a valid download token to download VMware software, including ESXi update images. As part of the changes around this requirement, user's ESXi update images can no longer be hosted by HPE. HPE will continue to do the bundling, qualification, and upload of the HPE OEM ESXi image to the Broadcom VMware software site.HPE Private Cloud Business Edition with Alletra Storage MP B10000 continues to fully support VMware vSphere and automates lifecycle of the infrastructure through the Single Click Update process. The update process itself is still automated and non-disruptive; there is a change in that now the HPE OEM VMware ESXi image will need to be downloaded from Broadcom and staged on a datastore.
These changes impact HPE Private Cloud Business Edition systems utilizing VMware vSphere with HPE Alletra Storage MP B10000.
New steps of the Single Click Update workflow:Select the system to run prechecks.Download the HPE OEM ESXi image from the Broadcom VMware download link provided in the wizard.NOTE: Download the ESXi version, which is noted at the top of the screen, not the "CD" file. The file name should end in "depot.zip"; this is the one you need to download. This should always be the file recommended in the pre-check, which will have the name of the file.Create a datastore with the name specified in the wizard.Upload the ESXi image to the datastore.Proceed with the precheck.Once the precheck is successfully complete, trigger the update.The Single Click Update process remains fully automated, leveraging internal catalogs, for HPE Private Cloud Business Edition clusters running the HPE Morpheus VM Essentials Software hypervisor.Revision HistoryDocument VersionRelease DateDetails2August 12, 2025In the Resolution section, added the ESXi screenshot and replaced content in step 2 for clarity1August 5, 2025Original Document Release
