When using HPE Integrated Lights-Out (iLO) or HPE Service Pack for ProLiant (SPP) to upgrade or downgrade the firmware, the iLO User Interface may show the process as successful. However, after a power-cycle, the drive firmware will be found to be the same. This issue occurs because of a limitation of the drive code base in firmware HPK5.

This issue will be corrected in a future HPE firmware release.HPE strongly suggests tonotdowngrade the drive firmware from version HPK5 to HPK2. The HPK5 version uses a newer code base that aligns with a 30TB device. If an upgrade or downgrade is necessary, use either RBSU or UEFI procedures to change the firmware to HPK2.ProLiant Gen10/Gen10 plus - RBSU for Direct-attached ModeThis is for Gen10/Gen10 plus servers using NVMe SSD drives, with the NVMe SSD (e.g., MO001600KWZQP and MO003200KWZQQ):Reboot the server and enter System Utilities by pressing F9 during POST => Select "Embedded Applications" in System Utilities.Select the desired firmware date.Select the NVMe drive.Select a file path in the "Select a firmware file."
