For any Virtual Connect modules listed in the Scope section below, in rare instances, the ARP broadcast frames may not be correctly sent after performing a non-disruptive firmware update. The ARP requests are properly received at the downlink ports pointing to external network devices; however, the Virtual Connect module may not propagate them. When this issue occurs, HPE OneView does not generate an alert. This issue does not affect current active connections; however, compute modules will be able to communicateOnlywith network devices that have been already discovered in the ARP tables. This issue may occur when both of the following actions have been performed sequentially:Perform a non-disruptive firmware update.Add more ports to an uplink set. This issue occurs because after performing a non-disruptive firmware update, there is a multicast index value that is a Link Aggregation Group (LAG) property that is not being restored correctly.Review the Virtual Connect module firmwarerelease notesfor details on whether the firmware version to be installed is a disruptive or non-disruptive update. Additional information can be found at the following link:Interconnect firmware update activation methods
In the scenario described above, HPE OneView managing logical interconnects configured with either of the following:HPE Virtual Connect SE 100Gb F32 Module for Synergy running any firmware version.HPE Virtual Connect SE 40Gb F8 Module for Synergy running any firmware version.
If this issue has already occurred, disable and re-enableAnyuplink port of the affected port channel. This step will correctly reconfigure the "multicast index" value. An uplink port can be disabled/re-enabled using OneView. Alternatively, disable/re-enable the port at the upstream network switch where the affected uplink port is connected. If additional assistance is required, contact an HPE support representative and reference document ID a00150367en_us.Contact your local countryHPE Customer Supportor log a case via theHPE Support Center.
