On HPE ProLiant ML30 and DL20 Gen11 Servers, J106 is a dedicated inlet temperature sensor connector. Although J106 is present on the shared system board, it is only used as a dedicated inlet temperature sensor on MicroServer Gen11 systems. This connector is not used on HPE ProLiant ML30 or HPE ProLiant DL20 Gen11 servers. If some other cable is inadvertently plugged into this sensor connector, either by mistake after reconfiguring or adjusting any components, the temperature signal which is in the same layout with this FIO connector could become compromised. This can occur because both ports look similar. This misconnection has been observed to cause issues such as unexpected shutdowns or incorrect, abnormal temperature readings.
Any HPE ProLiant ML30 and HPE ProLiant DL20 Gen11 Server.
On HPE ProLiant ML30 and DL20 servers, when using the storage controller backup cable (Part number:877850-001 CA, PWR,28 AWG,3Pin,PCIto Controller, LG), ensure that it is plugged back into J9111 (item 8 below) if any adjustments are made to the system hardware. Refer to the server user guide and Quickspecs for guidance. For example: From the user guide:https://support.hpe.com/hpesc/public/docDisplay?docId=sd00003390en_us&docLocale=en_US&page=GUID-D1F7F200-6D1E-4F7D-B197-AA40FD964C36.htmlReference the following:System board components | HPE ProLiant DL20 Gen11 Server User GuideThe port circled in green below is item 2, "Storage controller backup power connector."The ProLiant DL20 Gen11 and MicroServer Gen11 leverage the same motherboard.
