When a SimpliVity node is deployed, the Deployment Manager sets the VMware Storage DRS and VMware SIOC to disabled. This is a required step for SimpliVity. If Storage DRS is enabled, unnecessary storage migrations may occur. As a result, the SimpliVity Task Manager may not properly function. If SIOC is enabled, its statistics collection process may cause unexpected latency spikes. As a result, datastores may not respond to host Network File System (NFS) traffic. Additionally, VMware ESXi may report All Paths Down (APD) events.

To avoid the issues described above, perform the following steps:Disable Storage DRS for all SimpliVity clusters1.Open the vSphere Web Client:access the vSphere web client and navigate to the virtual datacenter where the datastore cluster is located.2.Locate the Datastore Cluster:find the datastore cluster in the vSphere Web Client navigator.3.Navigate to Configuration:click on the datastore cluster, go to the "Configuration" tab, and select "Storage DRS".4.Edit and Disable:click the "Edit" button and then disable the option "Turn ON vSphere Storage DRS".5.Confirm and Apply:click "OK" to apply the changes and disable Storage DRS.Disable SIOC on each HPE SimpliVity datastore1.Open the vSphere Web Client:access the vSphere web client.2.Locate the Datastore:navigate to the storage tab and select one SimpliVity datastore.3.Disable SIOC:right-click on the selected SimpliVity datastore, select "Configure Storage I/O Control" and select "Disable Storage I/O Control and statistics collection".4.Confirm and Apply:click "OK" to apply the changes and disable "Storage I/O Control and statistics collection".5. Repeat the above steps for all remaining SimpliVity datastores.
