On an HPE system with HPE Integrated Lights-Out 6 (iLO 6) and configured with any of the HPE NVIDIA BlueField-3 Data Processing Unit adapters listed in the Scope section below, the port link status of the adapter will be displayed as "Unknown" on HPE iLO 6.Network Controller Sideband Interface (NC-SI) communications enable HPE iLO 6 to read the link status information of the network adapter ports using NCSI over Management Component Transport Protocol (MCTP).During NCSI initialization and discovery of network controllers by HPE iLO 6, attempts to establish communication with the HPE NVIDIA BlueField-3 Data Processing Unit adapter using the default NCSI channel ID (Package ID + Internal Channel ID) 0x00 are made, to query the adapter and read its port link status. This NCSI communication between HPE iLO and the HPE NVIDIA BlueField-3 Data Processing Unit adapter fails to function as expected as the HPE NVIDIA BlueField-3 Data Processing Unit adapter does not have the default NCSI channel ID 0x00) configured by vendor. When this occurs, HPE iLO 6 fails to read the link status of the HPE NVIDIA BlueField-3 Data Processing Unit adapter and displays the status as "Unknown" on the "Network" page. This does not affect the operation or functionality of the system.
Any HPE system with iLO 6 and configured with either of the following HPE NVIDIA BlueField-3 Data Processing Unit adapters:HPE Data Processing Unit InfiniBand NDR200/Ethernet 200Gb 2-port QSFP112 FHHL B3220 Adapter (P66386-H21)HPE Data Processing Unit InfiniBand NDR/Ethernet 400Gb 1-port QSFP112 HHHL B3140H Adapter (P66387-H21)
This is targeted to be resolved in a future version of iLO 6 firmware that will use the appropriate vendor defined NCSI channel ID to query the HPE NVIDIA BlueField-3 Data Processing Unit adapter. This does not affect the operation or functionality of the system. This document will be updated when the HPE iLO 6 firmware with the fix becomes available.
