When the NVIDIA Windows Driver Version 566.03 or later is installed in any HPE ProLiant Gen11 or HPE ProLiant Gen12 system with NVIDIA GPUs and running Windows Server 2025, a Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) will be generated. In ProLiant Gen12 platforms, BIOS DMA protection setting is "Enabled" by default, whereas in ProLiant Gen11 the same setting is "Disabled" by default. Intel reference code changes the default value of "DMA protection" from Disabled (Gen11) to Enabled (Gen12). Therefore, ProLiant Gen12 systems by default have the DMA Protection setting as Enabled which causes this issue on all Intel platforms. The BSOD will occur if DMA is not Disabled. After the BSOD, a reboot will occur and the system will continue performing as expected.
Any HPE ProLiant Gen11 or HPE ProLiant Gen12 series of servers configured with NVIDIA GPUs running a Windows Server 2025 operating system when the BIOS DMA setting protection is "Enabled."
A future NVIDIA driver will correct this issue. After installation of Windows Server 2025 and before installing the NVIDIA Windows driver, perform the following:1. Login to the BIOS setting >> RBSU(Ctrl+A) >> Pre-boot DMA Protection >> Disabled2. Initiate Save and reboot.3. Once the OS is booted, verify in Windows OS - System Information >> System Summary >> Kernel DMA Protection - OFF.This advisory will be updated when additional solutions become available.
