On HPE servers with Graphical Processing Units (GPUs) and that support HPE Advanced Power Manager (APM), overall system power consumption may exceed more than the Power Regulator Settings Power Cap value.Power capping is a server attribute rather than applicable to individual components on a server. As a result, on servers with GPUs, the power consumption may exceed the power cap limit.Figure 1 - System with no GPUFigure 2 - Power Capping Adhere was enabled to the right of the peak Maximum valueFigure 3 - ProLiant with GPUsFigure 4 - Table shows GPU consumption exceeding Power Cap Setting
ProLiant servers that support HPE Advanced Power Manager. Since components such as GPUs may exceed the power cap limit, the power cap limit only applies to components that adhere to a power cap limit. Additionally, the power consumption for the server may exceed the power cap limits when these types of components are installed in the server.
