During controller copyback operations on HPE MR Gen10 Plus and Gen11 storage controllers, when a fault tolerant volume is configured with a dedicated spare drive and a drive in the array fails, the volume enters a degraded state.First, this state initiates arebuildwith the spare drive and generates a "VolumeDegraded" Redfish event. After the rebuild is completed, the volume's health status updates to "OK."Second, if the failed drive is subsequently replaced, the volume health status will change back to "Warning" during the copyback operation to the new drive:NOTE: In Redfish, there are two states that indicate a rebuild operation. The first state corresponds to an actual rebuild, while the second state represents a copyback operation. The "VolumeDegraded" event will not be triggered during a copyback operation, as the volume is not in a true degraded state at that point. For additional information about copyback operations, refer to theHPE MR Storage Administrator User Guide.

In the Redfish or iLO "Storage" tab, the controller Copyback operation is mapped to the Rebuild operation, since Redfish does not provide a specific Copyback option. As a result, when the operation is set to Rebuild, the Volume State is updated to "Updating," and the Volume Health is set to "Warning". During a copyback operation, the "VolumeDegraded" event will not be found in the Redfish IML, but it will appear during a rebuild operation. When a copyback operation occurs, it will be displayed as "Replacing" on the MRSA Dashboard. Check the MRSA Dashboard for details, as shown below:Compare with the "Rebuild" operation:
