When the password for the username used to manage the storage system in HPE OneView is changed, OneView will no longer be able to access the storage system. The following alert will be seen and is expected after the underlying security token expires (typically 12-24 hours):"An authorization failure occurred while communicating with the storage system.Resolution Verify that the storage system credentials are valid."After editing the credentials under Storage Systems/Actions/Edit Credentials to update the new password, the new credentials may not function as expected.The following error will be seen:"Issue An unexpected problem occurred. A problem occurred while trying to update the storage system with ID {storage_name}.Resolution Retry the operation. If the problem persists, contact your authorized support representative and provide a support dump."This issue will occur if the password for the username used to manage the storage system is changed on the storage system and the credentials are not edited in OneView shortly (12-24 hours) after that password change.
OneView versions 8.2-9.3 managing HPE Primera, HPE Alletra and HPE GreenLake for Block Storage on HPE Alletra Storage storage arrays.
This issue is fixed inHPE OneView 9.40.or later.The following workaround is available:.On the storage system, change the password for the username used in OneView to manage the storage system back to what it was before the issue occurred.Update the password back to the original password in OneView under Storage Systems/Actions/Edit Credentials.Refresh the storage system.NOTE: After the original credentials are working again, the password for the username used to manage the storage system in OneView can be updated using the following process:On the storage system, change the password for the username used in OneView to manage the storage system to the new password.Immediately edit the credential in OneView under Storage Systems/Actions/Edit Credentials to use the new password.Document VersionRelease DateDetails2April 3, 2025Updated to indicate the permanent fix, OV 9.401February 27, 2025Original document release
