On a number of HPE ProLiant, Alletra, Synergy, SimpliVity or Edgeline Gen10 Plus and Gen11 servers, when the system is configured with a PCIe card and with the HPE NS204i Boot Controller, the Boot Order of the PCIe card may change when upgrading the System ROM. This condition occurs due to changes made to address an issue where the NS204i controller may not be identified as an NVMe device. For IntelGen11platforms, the Boot Option order may change when upgrading toSystem ROM version 2.30.For IntelGen10 Plusplatforms, the Boot Option order may change when upgrading toSystem ROM version 2.20.1. When the Gen11 System ROM is version 2.22, the Boot Order of PCIe card with HPE NS204i Boot Controller is on the first option, as shown below:2. Once the Gen11 System ROM is upgraded to version 2.30, the Boot Order of PCIe card with HPE NS204i Boot Controller is moved to the last option.
Any of the HPE ProLiant, Alletra, Synergy or Edgeline Gen10 Plus/Gen11 servers tagged in the Hardware Platforms Affected, configured with PCIe card and with the HPE NS204i Boot Controller. There is no impact to a system without this PCIe card configuration.
To correct this issue, manually adjust the Boot Order back when seeing this issue after upgrading the System ROM. Once the Boot Order is adjusted back, this issue will not be seen on further System ROM upgrades.
