On initialization of the network stack, when HPE MSA 1060/2060/2062 Storage Management Controller network ports are connected to a 100Mbps switch port, the IP address route may not be initialized correctly. This causes the Management Controller IP address to be available only by the local network address and not accessible by devices outside that network. The Management Controller IP address and default route will appear correctly configured for the port; however, attempt to ping it from a network outside the local network address range will not be reachable. A ping to any network from the array outside the local network via the route will also fail. This issue only occurs when the Management Controller is connected to a 100Mbps Switch port.
This issue occurs on all versions of firmware and on the following HPE MSA Storage:HPE MSA 1060 StorageHPE MSA 2060 StorageHPE MSA 2062 StorageNOTE: This issue does not occur if there is no requirement to reach the HPE MSA management ports outside the local configured network. Local network access is not affected.
If the issue occurs, perform any of the following:Restart the affected Management Controller by connecting to SSH and runrestart mc a|b full(This may require multiple restarts to resolve the issue. However, once the route is working, do not restart the Management Controller).Reconfigure the affected controller Management Controller Network port IP address via the Storage Management Utility (SMU) or CLI.Connect the Management Controller network ports to a 1Gbps switch port. The issue does not happen when connected to a 1Gbps switch port.Revision HistoryDocument VersionRelease DateDetails2February 5, 2025Updated the first sentence in the Scope section to indicate that all versions of firmware are affected by this issue1December 11, 2024Original Document Release
