Under rare circumstances, HPE ProLiant or Synergy Gen11 server platforms may stop responding during Power-On-Self-Test (POST) and enter a reboot loop and/or may show the error message, "282 - Invalid Server Serial number and product ID".This issue only occurs when RBSU settings are modified immediately after resetting HPE Integrated Lights-Out 6 (iLO 6) without waiting for the iLO 6 management processor to finish reinitializing. When this occurs, the system serial number and product ID stored in RBSU will be blank. The system serial number and product ID will need to be reconfigured manually. The following is an example of the steps that will lead to the issue described in this advisory:"System Configuration" under "iLO 6 Configuration Utility" when making any change.Select "F10: Save" and then "Yes - Save Changes", the message "Warning iLO configuration has changed iLO needs to be reset" will be displayed. The configuration utility will not be available until next system reboot.Select "OK", "iLO reset in progress..." appears with a timer bar and the message "Reboot the server when the operation completes". Once the timer bar completes, the dialogue box goes away.If immediately after changes are made to the "BIOS/Platform configuration (RBSU)", and those changes are saved within a minute of the iLO reset, the server may experience this condition.
Any HPE ProLiant or Synergy Gen11 server running with HPE iLO 6 and only under the conditions described in the scenario presented above.
