For any HPE Virtual Connect SE 100Gb F32 modules for Synergy, a "ConfigError" state may occur when the Cryptography Mode is configured to Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS).Scenario 1:Any HPE OneView version.HPE Virtual Connect SE 100Gb F32 modules for Synergy running firmware version 2.7.0 (or earlier).Cryptography Mode is configured to FIPS mode.SNMPv3 and/or NTP configured with SHA1 authentication protocol.Update the Virtual Connect module firmware to version 2.8.0 (or later).If a "Reapply configuration" is performed from OneView, the Virtual Connect modules will change to a "ConfigError" state. Additionally, SNMP and/or NTP will stop functioning properly.Scenario 2:Any HPE OneView version.HPE Virtual Connect SE 100Gb F32 modules for Synergy running firmware version 2.8.0 (or later).Cryptography Mode is configured to Legacy mode.SNMPv3 and/or NTP configured with SHA1 authentication protocol.If the Cryptography Mode is changed to FIPS mode, the Virtual Connect modules will change to a "ConfigError" state. Additionally, SNMP and/or NTP will stop functioning properly.
In the scenarios described above, any HPE OneView version managing Logical Interconnects configured with HPE Virtual Connect SE 100Gb F32 modules for Synergy.
To avoid this issue, perform the following steps:Use OneView to edit the Logical Interconnect Group.If SNMPv3 is configured with SHA1, change it to SHA-256 (or higher).Configure the NTP client authentication algorithm to use SHA-384.From the Logical Interconnect, perform an Update from Group.Prior to updating OneView, HPE recommends customers to run theHPE OneView Update Readiness Checker 2.8(or later). This tool will generate a report of existing issues (if any), and corresponding actions to be performed prior to updating OneView.For additional information, refer to the "Important" and "Installation Instructions" tabs found in the above link.
