If the snapshots are created using the "createsv -i" option to preserve an existing Volume ID, HPE 3PAR StoreServ Storage arrays may restart unexpectedly when running firmware Version 3.3.2.EMU1. This issue will cause the controllers to stall and restart. The recovery will be automatic. However, this will also cause an outage and extra time may be required for the hosts to recover.Note:This is not related to the World Wide ID; it will be safely preserved. This issue is very rare.
Any HPE 3PAR StoreServ 8000, 9000 or 20000 Storage arrays on firmware version 3.3.2.EMU1 or earlier.
Do not use the "-i" option when creating snapshots with the "createsv" command. (The system will maintain a Virtual Volume ID without using this "-i" option.)There is no need to preserve the same Virtual Volume ID (VV ID) as this is only used internally for a Storage Array to identify the VV, especially of a snapshot. The hosts always use the World Wide ID (WW ID) to access the VVs.
