HPE ProLiant DL360 Gen11 servers running System ROM version 2.20 or 2.22 may experience constant higher fan speeds; this occurs because one of the fallback sensors is erroneously activated. The fan speed is significantly increased (running at about 40-50%) after upgrading the System ROM to 2.20 or 2.22, when compared with the fan speed of the earlier ROM versions 2.16 (or older), which kept the fan speed at approximately 15%, as shown in the following images.System ROM 2.16 (or earlier)System ROM 2.20 and 2.22
Any HPE ProLiant DL360 Gen11 server running System ROM 2.20 or 2.22.
This issue has been resolved with System ROM 2.30, available for downloadhere.System ROM 2.30 modified the fallback sensor functionality to only operate when necessary. After upgrading to this version, the fan speed should stay running at approximately 16%.Note: To ensure that you have selected the latest version of the firmware/driver, click the Revision History tab to check if a new version of the firmware/driver is available.
