When HPE SR Gen10 controllers (running firmware version 7.11) and Gen10 Plus/Gen11 controllers (running firmware version 03.01.30.106) are booted without any drives attached to the controller, the controller is incorrectly displayed as a SATA Storage System and the controller's name is reported with "SATA Storage System" in the HPE Integrated Lights-Out (iLO) Storage tab:A controller name is typically expected to be reported in the iLO Storage tab, as shown below:
This issue occurs on the following HPE SR controllers and firmware versions:HPE SR Gen10 Controllers (version 7.11)HPE SR Gen10 Plus Controllers (version 03.01.30.106)HPE SR Gen11 Controllers (version 03.01.30.106)
This issue is resolved in the following HPE SR controller firmware:HPE SR Gen10 Controller firmware version 7.43:HPE Smart Array P408i-p, P408e-p, P408i-a, P408i-c, E208i-p, E208e-p, E208i-c, E208i-a, P204i-c, P416ie-m and P816i-a SR Gen10 and SR308i-o,SR308i-p Gen11 controllersHPE SR Gen10 Plus and Gen11 Controller firmware version 03.01.33.044:HPE SR932i-p Gen10 Plus /SR416i-a Gen10 Plus/SR932i-p Gen11/SR416ie-m Gen11 ControllersWorkaroundTo resolve this issue so the iLO displays the controller and not a SATA Storage System, attach any supported drive to the controller. After a drive is inserted, a new Redfish Storage resource instance is re-created with a new URI. For example, the Redfish Storage resource for SATA Storage System is generated with the below URI when the system is booted:/redfish/v1/Systems/1/Storage/DA000007After a drive is inserted, the above Redfish Storage resource is removed, and a new Redfish Storage resource is generated for the controller with new URI, as shown below:/redfish/v1/Systems/1/Storage/DE009000Revision HistoryDocument VersionRelease DateDetails2May 28, 2025Updated the Resolution section with the fix1August 23, 2024Original Document Release
