Document VersionRelease DateDetails2May 10, 2023Updated the Resolution to mention firmware version IN110P002, which contains the fix.1January 13, 2023Original Document Release.HPE MSA 1060/2060/2062 Storage Systems with attached expansion enclosures may report an 'Invalid Bundle' in the user interface. This issue stems from a compatible firmware component on the expansion IOM, EC version 5352, which is not included/listed in the firmware bundle. The IOM firmware version cannot be reverted, which results in the system reporting an 'Invalid Bundle.' Attempts to activate the same or different firmware levels will not complete successfully and may result in controllers in the same system running different firmware levels. To validate this issue, run the following commands:# show versionsController A Versions Controller B Versions--------------------- ---------------------Bundle Version: Invalid Bundle (IN110P001) Invalid Bundle (IN110P001)# show enclosuresEncl ….. If the system has an 'Invalid bundle' but does not include the new IOM revision, then the report is caused by another issue, which should be investigated.Commands to see the new hardware revision:# show frus….FRU---Name: BOD_IOMDescription: SPS-MSA 12G IO ModulePart Number: P12951-001Serial Number: XXXXXXXXXXRevision: DLDash Level:FRU Shortname:Manufacturing Date: 2022-07-30 00:53:00Manufacturing Location:Manufacturing Vendor ID:FRU Location: UPPER IOM SLOTConfiguration SN: XXXXXXXXXXFRU Status: OKEnclosure ID: 2…
This advisory applies to all HPE MSA 1060/2060/2062 Storage systems with attached disk enclosures.IMPORTANT: Attempts to resolve the issue by flashing/activating firmware will likely result in mis-matched firmware on controllers, which should be resolved and validated from both controllers.HPE Storage SystemHPE SKU (A)HPE SKU (B)HPE MSA 2060 16Gb Fibre Channel LFF StorageR0Q73AR0Q73BHPE MSA 2060 16Gb Fibre Channel SFF StorageR0Q74AR0Q74BHPE MSA 2060 10GbE iSCSI LFF StorageR0Q75AR0Q75BHPE MSA 2060 10GbE iSCSI SFF StorageR0Q76AR0Q76BHPE MSA 2060 12Gb SAS LFF StorageR0Q77AR0Q77BHPE MSA 2060 12Gb SAS SFF StorageR0Q78AR0Q78BHPE MSA 2060 10GBASE-T iSCSI LFF StorageR7J72AR7J72BHPE MSA 2060 10GBASE-T iSCSI SFF StorageR7J73AR7J73BHPE MSA 2060 16Gb Fibre Channel SFF TAA-compliant StorageR9G38AR9G38BHPE MSA 2060 16Gb Fibre Channel LFF TAA-compliant StorageR9G39AR9G39BHPE MSA 2060 10GbE iSCSI SFF TAA-compliant StorageR9G40AR9G40BHPE MSA 2060 12Gb SAS SFF TAA-compliant StorageR9G41AR9G41BHPE MSA 2062 16Gb Fibre Channel LFF StorageR0Q79AN/AHPE MSA 2062 16Gb Fibre Channel SFF StorageR0Q80AR0Q80BHPE MSA 2062 10GbE iSCSI LFF StorageR0Q81AN/AHPE MSA 2062 10GbE iSCSI SFF StorageR0Q82AR0Q82BHPE MSA 2062 12Gb SAS LFF StorageR0Q83AN/AHPE MSA 2062 12Gb SAS SFF StorageR0Q84AR0Q84BHPE MSA 2062 10GBASE-T iSCSI LFF StorageR7J70AN/AHPE MSA 2062 10GBASE-T iSCSI SFF StorageR7J71AR7J71BHPE MSA 1060 16Gb Fibre Channel SFF StorageR0Q85AR0Q85BHPE MSA 1060 10GBASE-T iSCSI SFF StorageR0Q86AR0Q86BHPE MSA 1060 12Gb SAS SFF StorageR0Q87AR0Q87BHPE MSA 2060 SAS 12G 2U 12-disk LFF Drive EnclosureR0Q39AR0Q39BHPE MSA 2060 SAS 12G 2U 24-disk SFF Drive EnclosureR0Q40AR0Q40B
The 'Invalid Bundle' issue is resolved in HPE MSA Storage system firmware version IN110P002. Firmware is available on theMSA Firmwarewebsite. Validate firmware versions on each controller and update as necessary. As a workaround, it is safe to continue operations with the 'Invalid bundle' condition.NOTE: If controller firmware is mis-matched on controllers, this should be resolved immediately.Action PlanDisable the Partner Firmware Upgrade (PFU):CLI> set advanced-settings partner-firmware-upgrade disabledSMU: Settings > System > Firmware PropertiesVia the CLI, activate the latest firmware (IN110P001) on each controller.
