On any HPE ProLiant Gen8 server or an HPE ProLiant DL580 Gen9 server configured with any of the HPE Smart Array Controllers with firmware 5.02 (or later) listed in the Scope section below, with write cache enabled or SmartCache enabled using 4 GB cache modules; the cache may be temporarily disabled in less than a minute and the Cache module board status is tmpDisable when the server sets up the OneView or the iLO SNMP type of management capability. When this occurs, SNMP traps are regularly received every 48 or 50 hours due to battery charge. In addition, no IML errors are logged. The SNMP Traps reported are benign and they do not impact the system functionality. These SNMP Traps repeat every 48 or 50 hours, so they can be ignored. The standard practice is to apply a filter to ignore the snmp traps by using a third party software. Refer to the following URL as an example: Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) Notification Filter and Notification Recipient Configuration on 300 Series Managed Switches Notes: Using the example above, if there is an existing issue, valid battery failure events can be logged in the Integrated Management Log (IML), for example: 1829-Slot 0 Drive Array - Please replace Cache Module Battery Pack. Caching will be enabled once the Battery Pack has been replaced and charged There is no plan from HPE to resolve this condition, as this is not affecting the product functionality.
